What happened to Nebraska
During the mid to late 90s, Nebraska won three college football championships. The last team to have dominance of that type was Alabama in the early to mid 2010s.
While many thought Nebraska’s 1998 season in which they went 9-4 was just a down year due to the fact that they followed it up the next year going 12-1, very few people thought that it would be a sign of what was to come, at best. From 2000 to 2010, Nebraska only got eleven or more wins once, which was in 2001.
While they only had two losing seasons during that time period, 5-6 in 2004 and 5-7 in 2007, they were never a true threat for the championship which was not like Nebraska’s previous ways. Before 2004, you have to go all the way back to 1961 just for a Nebraska losing season.
During the 2010s, Nebraska only had two ten win or better seasons and had three losing seasons. The past two years Nebraska is 4-8 and 5-7 with Scott Frost going 9-15 to start his career for Nebraska. From 1973-1997, Nebraska only had one head coach. Since then they have had six different head coaches.
From 1970 to 2000, Nebraska only had eleven seasons when they didn't get more then ten wins, and the least amount of wins they got during a season was nine.
