Did Joe Burrow’s 2018 injury help him become a better quarterback?
Before this season, few people knew about Joe Burrow. Even fewer people knew what Joe was capable of doing so when Joe had arguably the greatest season a NCAA quarterback has ever had this past season, lots of people began to doubt his success and especially what he’ll be able to do in the NFL.
Joe Burrow started off his college career on the bench at Ohio State for two seasons before transferring to LSU. When Joe was getting recruited to LSU, Coach Orgeron was so confident in Joe’s abilities that when he found out the restaurant they were at did not serve crawfish, Coach O had them go out and get 15 pounds of crawfish.
In Joe’s first season at LSU, he passed for 2,894 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions with a 57.8% completion average. In his second season at LSU, he passed for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions with a 76.3% completion average. While his first season at LSU wasn’t bad by any means, it was no where near his second season.
2 days before playing Alabama in 2018, he separated his throwing shoulder. Joe played the rest of the season anyways. Before Joe’s injury, he started the season passing for 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in September. October was a completely different story. Joe Burrow passed for 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Following the Alabama game, Joe finished the season passing for 10 touchdowns and 1 interception. Obviously, Joe continued that success in 2019.
