The 3 best WR locker room cancers in NFL history

Is it a coincidence that star NFL wide receivers tend to come with the most locker room problems?

Throughout the course of the NFL, there have been many great players whose off field issues cut their what could’ve been great careers short. For some of those players though, their on field play was good enough to make teams look otherwise.

Terrell Owens is arguably one of the best NFL wide receivers ever, and is definitely the best NFL player to ever get snubbed from the Hall of Fame. If you don’t know who Terrell Owens is, his career stats in the NFL would leave you wondering how this man could’ve ever been kept out of the Hall of Fame. After all, TO put up 153 receiving touchdowns and just under 16,000 yards with just 1078 receptions in 16 seasons. On the other side, Terrell also played for 6 different NFL teams. He was a constant cancer in the locker room with more mind-blowing statements and actions every season then most players make in their career. Terrell would constantly throw his quarterback under the bus, he once spit on DeAngelo Hall’s face, and many other antics.

Like Terrell Owens, Randy Moss was another great wide receiver to constantly be causing problems off the field. In one game when his team was losing late, Randy walked off the field before the game was even over. In 2000, Randy had to get anger management counseling after verbally abusing corporate sponsors on a bus following a loss. In 2001, Randy told a newspaper columnist that he only plays when he wants to play, after being asked why he takes some plays off. Those incidents would be enough for most teams to want to get rid of Randy right away, no matter his skill set. Instead, the vikings kept Randy around until 2004 in which he then went on to play for 5 more teams, causing problems the entire way.

Santonio Holmes had all the pieces to be one of the best NFL wide receivers of all time. His problem was, he couldn’t stay out of trouble with the law. With the Steelers alone, he was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, and alleged domestic violence. Once traded to the Jets, he told a fan to “kill urself” on twitter, which he said his account was hacked, and cut a women in the face after throwing a glass at her. To cap it off, Holmes, who was seen as a team caption for the Jets, quit “trying” in their season finale against the Dolphins with a playoff berth on the line.
